Language Projects

Language can both unify and divide a people, and I am always interested in learning more about things that appear at first to be foreign.

Language not only provides insight into other cultures and people, but is often a useful tool for re-examination of a native culture.

I also really enjoy travelling, and find the process much easier when I have at least a basic grasp of the host country's language.

Chinese: Mandarin In Progress 2010

One of my extra-curricular activities is my enrollment in the Language Institute of America, for Mandarin. These courses focus on both speaking and writing the language.

Spanish Completed 1990

I studied Spanish from the third grade through college. I would hesitate to qualify myself as a fluent speaker, but I am certainly comfortable in a Spanish speaking country.
