Ardent Entertainment was a small game development studio I co-founded with several other members of the games industry. Armed with production support from a talented team of individuals from Vivendi Universal, we set out to create an epic role playing game with a similar design aesthetic to the Legend of Zelda by Nintendo.
After I finished assembling a team of artists, writers, programmers, and legal support, I assumed the role of programmer of the graphics engine that would power the game. This engine eventually became Project Vision 1.0.
Similar to the fate of many small game development studios, we built a prototype and presented it to a number of publishers.
One publisher in particular took interest in our project and provided us with support by supplying us with four free fulltime employees (one producer, three programmers). Work proceeded and the game started to take shape, but it's life was suddenly cut short when the publisher backing the project decided to exit the games industry in order to focus more of its efforts on its film business.
The game that was in development, tentitively named "Terry and Ven", was never completed. Below are a few screenshots and sketches from this unreleased project.
